A simple invitation to create with loose parts and frames.

Looking for some creative and mindful play?
This simple invitation to create is both of these things and more!
This was the most beautiful and mindful play on a quiet afternoon with the sun shining through the window. Both my daughters were completely absorbed in the moment creating their artworks!
*Please note: Art idea for ages 3+ as contains small parts which pose a choking hazard. Adult supervision recommended at all times. It is your responsibility to determine the suitability of this idea for your child.
Loose Parts Transient Art for Kids
This is such a beautiful way to create. Transient art means that the materials can be moved around as they won’t be fixed down, so they can be used over and over again. There are lots of possibilities for using loose parts to create transient art. The sky is the limit!
I encourage you to have a look at the materials you already have to see what your children could use to create transient art.

Many people use photo frames (with the glass removed) to show a space for children to create their art within. Here we have used printable frames. These are simple to print and easy to store, as they don't take up much room. Another option would be plywood frames from craft stores. These come in with some fancy borders too.
What we used:
Loose parts - shells, mini logs, jewels/gems from an old bracelet, glass gemstones (from Bunnings Australia)
Tamarind sorting tray QToys
Printable frames or you can use old photo frames with the glass removed. Plywood frames from craft stores would work too.
Placemats from Kmart Australia to show each child's area to work

What to do:
Print out some frames or use old photo frames with the glass removed.
Choose an assortment of beautiful and interesting loose parts for children to create with.
Set up the loose parts in an inviting way e.g. in some bowls, baskets or a tray.
Invite the children to create using the materials however they would like.
Admire the beautiful creations!

TIP: When my girls had finished their creations we took a photo, as the materials were packed away at the end to use again next time.
